New to Catch And Tame? This guide will teach you everything you need to know to get started and build your animal empire.
1. Basic Taming Mechanics
The core gameplay revolves around using your lasso to capture wild animals and place them in your pen.
- How to Catch: Equip your lasso, aim at an animal, and click repeatedly to fill the capture bar
- The Tether: Once caught, the animal follows you. Lead it back to your pen
- Place in Pen: Use the "Place in Pen" prompt to start generating income
- Passive Income: Every animal generates "Bucks per second" - collect regularly!
2. Essential Early Upgrades
Metal Lasso ($100)
Your top priority. Increases your Strength, making common animals much easier to catch.
Fence Expansion
Your starter pen has limited slots. As soon as it's full, use your cash to Extend Fence. More pets = Faster money.
Daily Rewards
Log in every day. You can get free Weather Totems on Day 5 and Day 7 which are crucial for later progress.
3. Managing Your Pen
- Collecting Money: Walk through your pen regularly to collect cash from your pets
- Expanding: Use earnings to extend the fence on all sides to accommodate more and larger pets
- Selling Pets: Keep your inventory clean. Sell lower-value pets to make room for rarer finds
- Animal Posts: Use posts to tether your pets in place for better organization
4. Animal Rarities
Understanding rarities helps you prioritize which animals to catch:
Common
Chicken, Dog, Cat, Pig - Easy to catch, low income ($2-11/sec)
Rare
Bear, Kangaroo, Horse, Wolf - Moderate difficulty ($15-20/sec)
Epic
Hippo, Tiger, Lion, Moose - High difficulty ($30-100/sec)
Legendary
Pegasus, Rhino, Llama - Very difficult ($100+/sec)
5. Special Features for Beginners
Mystery Animals
Throughout the map, you'll find glowing "Mystery" spawn points. Taming these will reveal a random animal, which has a chance to be a high-tier or rare mutation. Always investigate them!
Mutations
Some animals appear with unique colors or effects (e.g., a Purple "Twilight Sparkle" Pony). These are mutations and are typically more valuable than their standard counterparts.
Breeding & Recipes
The game features a Recipe System where you can fuse different animals together to create new species. Access the "Recipes" menu to see which combinations you have discovered.
6. Pro Tips for Beginners
- Don't Over-Click: If an animal is "too strong" and the bar barely moves, don't waste your energy. Save up for a better Lasso first
- Watch for Stealers: Other players can sometimes interfere with your taming process. Ensure your pen is secure
- Follow the Mystery: Always prioritize "Mystery" spawns as they are the fastest way to find creatures you haven't discovered yet
- Be a "Disney Princess": Stand near dangerous animals (like Alligators); they are friendly once you are in the taming zone!
- Focus on Quantity Early: Fill your pen with common animals first to build income
- Save for Upgrades: Prioritize lasso upgrades over cosmetic items
- Use Weather Events: During rain, animals are 25% easier to catch and you gain +25% Luck
- Daily Rewards: Log in every day to claim free rewards and Weather Totems
