Taming Guide

Master the art of taming in Catch And Tame. Learn advanced techniques, lasso progression, and strategies for catching high-tier animals.

Basic Taming Mechanics

How to Catch: Equip your lasso, aim at an animal, and click repeatedly. A progress bar will appear - you must fill it before the animal despawns.

Strength Requirements: Each animal has a strength stat. If your lasso's strength is too low, catching high-tier animals becomes extremely difficult or impossible.

The Tether: Once caught, the animal follows you. Lead it back to your pen and use the "Place in Pen" prompt to start generating income.

Clicking Power: Each animal requires a specific number of clicks to be successfully tamed (e.g., a simple goat might take 36 clicks, while rarer ones require hundreds).

Lasso Progression Strategy

Early Game

Start with low-strength animals like Chickens and Cats (10-20 strength) to build initial cash.

Upgrade to Metal Lasso ($100) - essential early-game upgrade.

Mid Game

Steel Coil Lasso ($10,000) allows you to catch animals in the 100-200 strength range.

Storm Wrangler ($100,000) - ideal for Large Epics like Moose and Lions.

Late Game

Night Veil Lasso ($1,000,000) makes catching Legendaries much easier.

Void Weave Lasso ($7,500,000) - high-tier for Legendaries.

Nebula Lasso - the best in the game, allowing you to catch almost anything instantly.

Advanced Taming Techniques

Exceeding Your Strength: You can catch animals slightly above your lasso's strength by clicking rapidly and predicting their movement, but it requires high effort.

Lasso Power vs. Strength: Your lasso has a base "Strength" rating, but you can actually catch animals with a higher strength requirement if you click fast enough.

Example: Even with a 300-strength lasso, you can catch animals like a Pegasus (550 Strength) or Griffin by clicking rapidly.

Weather Advantage: Use weather events (Rain, Aurora) to make animals easier to catch. Rain provides +25% catching ease, Aurora provides +50%.

Pro Taming Tips

  • Don't Over-Click: If an animal is "too strong" and the bar barely moves, don't waste your energy. Save up for a better Lasso first.
  • Watch for Stealers: Other players can attempt to "steal" an animal you are currently taming. Be fast and stay focused when the bar is almost full.
  • Distance is Safety: When taming a rare animal, the game keeps other players at a distance to prevent them from "stealing" your catch.
  • Use Weather Events: Wait for rain or use a totem to make the capture much easier. Animals are 25% easier to catch during rain.
  • Target High-Value Animals: Look for animals that require higher strength (like the Lion at 166 strength) as they provide much better passive income.
  • Mystery Spawns: Always prioritize "Mystery" spawns as they can yield rare creatures you haven't discovered yet.
  • Colossal Variants: Look for prefixes like "Colossal" or "Huge" - they provide significantly more income than standard versions.

Weather Modifier Strategy

Use weather events strategically to catch animals above your lasso strength:

  • Rain: +25% catching ease - use when animal is slightly too strong
  • Aurora Borealis: +50% catching ease + 300% Luck - best for difficult catches
  • Thunderstorm: +25% ease + mutation chance - great for rare variants
